Before the Throne of God Above

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong, a perfect plea
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end to all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
To look on Him and pardon me

Behold Him there the risen Lamb
My perfect spotless righteousness
The great unchangeable I am
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God!
With Christ my Savior and my God!

One with Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God!
With Christ my Savior and my God!

These are the words to the song we had the congregation sing at our wedding. We chose this song because it acknowledges that Todd and I were not only standing at the altar of the church but ultimately standing before the Throne of God and making a marriage covenant. Having the congregation sing was one of our favorite parts of the wedding. It was a blessing to have them join us in worshiping our God.

Check back wedding pictures coming soon!

  1. It's totally stuck in my head. I tried to memorize it the morning of your wedding and now my memory devices keep setting me off singing it. Keep thinking how perfect it was for your wedding. Love you.

  2. Brittany, I just got on your blog to check for pictures and have LOVED getting to see everything! I feel like I was there! You were a gorgeous bride and everything about the ceremony and reception looked picture perfect. Congratulations!!!

Also, we sang Before the Throne of God at my wedding ceremony too and it is such a special song to Brian and me. I love knowing you chose it for your wedding. :) Every time I have heard it since, I get choked up thinking of God's goodness to us!
