Dr. Evans

This past Tuesday Todd and I visited with Dr. Evans, of Oak Cliff Bible Church, at his office for marriage counseling and preparing for the wedding. It is so humbling that Dr. Evans is giving Todd and I the gift of bringing us into the covenant of marriage before God. I had shared with Todd that Dr. Evans had been there for me through a very painful time in my life giving me wise biblical counsel that challenged me to believe there would be a dawn after the darkness. When Todd and I became serious I desired Todd to meet Dr. Evans. Todd asked many of his friends and family to pray before we went to meet with Dr. Evans, as Todd knew how important Dr. Evans opinion of Todd would be to me. Dr. Evans loved Todd, he past with flying colors!!!

Not only do I deeply respect Dr. Evans as a man who seeks God, but also I have seen him as a husband to Lois, his wife, as well as a father and grandfather all, which has only deepened my respect for him.

Dr. Evans gave Todd and I a few books to read about marriage including: A Woman’s Role in the Home, A Man’s Role in the Home, and Marriage Matters. They are excellent books and would recommend them! This last time we visited him he gave us the daily devotional book for couples that both Dr. Evans and Lois Evans wrote together. We are excited to read this daily devotional book for our first year of marriage!

Todd and I so value Dr. Evans role in our lives and seek to build a marriage that reflects all the truths of a biblical marriage.
Thank you Dr. Evans!!

A Sneak Peek

Wondering what I have been up to? Here are a few pictures to give you a sneak peek of the wedding details. My mom, my sisters and I have been having fun working on making wedding programs, menus, name tags, music note wreaths, and more for the wedding.

A Sweet Gift

This past week Callie and Troy (my sister and brother-in-law) gave Todd and I a wonderful and thoughtful gift. Callie made a photo book on her Mac computer of our Couple Wedding Shower we had a few weeks ago.

They even wrote a sweet note inside the back flap.

Thank you Callie and Troy. It will be a wonderful keepsake of our Couple Wedding Shower!

Prayers and Letters!

I am gifted each week with letters from friends lovingly sharing wisdom, encouragement and hope for my up coming marriage. What a priceless gift as I know the busy lives they live. These letters also represent the gift of their time before the Lord in prayer for me which have brought tears of gratefulness that each of these friends are mine. I have known deep sorrow, as each of us will in life, and have found we don't lose friends in our day of sorrow it just clarifies who they are. I am blessed knowing these friend’s hearts for me and celebrating with me God's gift of Todd. Thank you Kate for creating this and you sweet friends that fill each week with prayers and letters!! I hope each bride could receive this priceless gift from her friends in preparing her for her wedding day and marriage!

A Word from the Guy

You haven't heard from me yet but probably have seen more of me than you care to on this blog (more pics of Brittany please :) but let me take a moment to say thank you to the many people who have blessed us throughout our lives and during this engagement.

To our families who have helped form in us Spiritual foundations that we now set our lives and future upon, we are forever grateful. For our extended families and future in-laws (Troy and Susan included), your warmness and acceptance has allowed us to feel welcome and truly a part of a larger family.

To our friends who have helped shape us (and in some cases helped smooth some rough edges) we say thank you. In some ways it is our fondness and appreciation of your wonderful attributes that has caused us to seek out those things in each other.

And most importantly to our Heavenly Father who bent His ear to hear our cries for help and has brought unspeakable joy into our lives in the person of Himself and communion with one another. As the days grow closer to marriage, I realize that marriage is not simply the joining of two people but an institution in which we most clearly worship God here on earth. We look forward to worshipping with all of you and recounting the blessings our God has bestowed upon us.

in Him,

todd
