Jesse Tree

For Christmas this year we started the Jesse Tree tradition. The Jesse Tree represents the family tree of Jesus. It tells the story of God's salvation plan beginning with creation and continues thru the old testament ending with the coming Messiah. I thought it would be a wonderful and fun activity for the lil' guy to learn about the Bible at Christmas. So I headed to Hobby Lobby and Michaels to find ornaments and items to make the ornaments I needed. It took several trips but I finally found everything I needed for the 24 ornaments!

I began glueing...

painting..

and more...

finally... the ornaments were done!

I really like they way the ornaments turned out!

We also started this year the elf on the shelf, but our elf brings a Jesse Tree ornament every morning to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas. Lil' guy has really enjoyed looking for the elf, opening the ornament and placing it on the Jesse Tree. We read the devotion for each ornament in the evening at dinner when daddy is home. The other night my lil' guy said "more momma" when I was done reading the devotion.  Melted my heart and was the entire reason for making this is so that my sweet son would yearn to hear the word of the Lord!

The finishing touches...

The finishing touches of the nursery are in place! Since we waited until the birth to find out what we were having, I didn't complete the personal touches to the nursery until after we had our sweet baby boy!
I added his initials in wood letters above the changing table.

To the shelves I add his birth keepsake shadow box, gingham blue smocked pillow, and fun wood toy trucks.

His birth keepsake shadow box includes pictures, his footprints and his going home outfit.

I made and hung his birth canvas that has all the information like date, time, weight, and height. I also framed his hand and foot prints.

His cute little blue hippo chair! (early birthday present from Lolli and Pop)

Little Snippets of the Nursery...

We have been busy getting Lil' One's nursery ready! We have been buying things from the rug to the crib and sewing the bedding, curtains and more. Here are a few little snippets...

(going to personalize the shadow box once Lil' One gets here!)

We have just a few things left to do but they have to wait until after Lil' One gets here because we are going to personalize a few things once we know if Lil' One is a boy or girl!

Before & After...

I've been finishing up on a few projects around the house, before I start working on the nursery!
Empty little corner before:

After:

I wanted this space to be useful! I found this bench that is able to roll around if I need extra seating for guests. I added a few baskets for storage.

Cute Anthropologie coat rack!

Made a cute cushion and there we go!

A Glimpse...

My sister Baylie bought a cabin and has been doing an amazing job decorating it in chic western style!
Just a few pictures to give you a glimpse of how cute it is!

Come on in and take a peek!

She found a vintage metal roof from an old barn for the ceiling.

Every detail of her cabin has a western flare even down to embossed leather fan

 Chic lighting over the kitchen

Cozy living room- love the brown and turquoise!
